Vision and values

Solving problems and building propositions, not CVs.

How do we get our children ready for the world that's coming? Here's what we believe, and why.

A note from us

When we look at our two, we don't see future job applicants. We see builders.

The old deal was simple: work hard at school, get the grades, join the queue for a job. We don't think that queue will look the same by the time our children reach it. In our view, AI is changing work, and fast.

Something else is changing too. It has never been easier to build. An idea, a laptop and a few friends can make something real.

So we're not preparing our children for a queue. We want them ready for a world where making things is cheap and open to everyone. That means solving problems, working as a team, and standing up to show what they made.

That's why Opblox never ranks children. At this age, comparison discourages. Building together doesn't.

Our vision

Children ready to build the world that's coming, not queue for the one that's going.

Our mission

Our mission

Opblox is a new way to unschool. Children learn the core subjects at their Own Pace, block by block. Then they build things together: projects, and the demo days and hackathons we're planning.

Our values

Six things we won't trade.

  • Build together. Don't compare.

We never rank children: no leaderboards, no league tables. They grow by building as a team, through projects, and the demo days and hackathons we're planning.

    How we build together
  • Own Pace. Not a race.

Each child moves at their own pace, subject by subject. Ahead in one, steady in another. Both are fine.

    See the curriculum
  • Drawn in, not pushed in.

Learning starts with something they care about. Then it pulls them into the blocks that help.

    The pull-in approach
  • Children own it. Parents steer it.

Children own what they build. Parents decide what comes next.

    What parents see
  • Stacked means mastered.

A block only counts once it's still known weeks later.

    How blocks stack
  • Learning data, not tracking.

Children's learning data is kept on our own server, and shared only when you say so. No ads, no outside tracking.
