Children’s privacy

Children’s privacy is our top priority.

Opblox is built for children, so their privacy comes first. Here is exactly what that means.

Opblox isn’t open to children yet, so there are no child accounts or learning data today.

No email. A PIN and a nickname.

  • We never ask for a child’s email address.
  • Children sign in with a PIN, on a device you’ve set up.
  • You choose the name they use in Opblox, and their PIN. A nickname is fine.
  • We never ask for their date of birth, their surname or a photo of them.

We talk to you, not your child.

  • Every email and notification goes to a parent.
  • Opblox only emails parents.
  • There’s no chat in Opblox. Children can’t message anyone, and no one can message them.

Learning data, not tracking.

  • To pace each child, the app records how they learn: their answers, how long each question takes, and where they get stuck.
  • We use it to tailor their learning and show you their progress. We also keep sign-in and device records, to keep accounts safe.
  • It’s shared with AI help or a tutor only when you say yes.
  • No ads, no outside analytics, no third-party trackers, and we don’t follow anything else they do.
  • Today, the public pages of this website set no cookies and run no outside scripts. Parent sign-in uses Clerk, which sets only the cookies sign-in needs (see Cookies).
  • One day we may count visits to this public website, to see which pages help families.
  • If we do, it will be a simple count on our own server. No cookies, nothing that identifies you, and never in the app.

Their learning stays with us.

  • Children’s learning data is kept on our own server in the EU.
  • We never sell it, and we never use it for ads.
  • It’s shared only when you say so.
  • Error reports are scrubbed of names and anything identifying before they leave our server.
Coming soon

Tutors see only what you allow.

  • Nothing about your child goes to a tutor until you say yes.
  • You choose the subject. A maths tutor sees maths, and nothing else.
  • Change your mind at any time. Access stops straight away.
  • You can see each time a tutor looked.

How tutor support works

Also part of the design.

  • AI that never learns their name.Coming soonAI help is off until you turn it on, child by child. It sees the question and your child’s working. We never send it their name or age, and it isn’t used to train the AI.
  • Private photos.Coming soonPhotos of written work are off until you turn them on. They’re never on a public link, only your family can see them, and we remove the location from every photo.
  • No public profiles.Children never have a public page, a follower count or a ranking.

You can see it, and delete it.

  • You can see everything we hold about your child.
  • Download it, correct it or delete it, from your parent area.
  • Delete a child, and their data is gone from our backups within 35 days.
