Tutor support

Stuck? A tutor who already knows why.

Blocks work for most things. When they don’t, your child can get help from a real person, who starts right where they’re stuck.

We’re setting up tutor support now. It isn’t open yet, and we haven’t set prices.

How it works

Two ways to get help.

  • Local tutor groups

    • A small group of children who live near each other.
    • They meet, get to know each other, and work through common questions together.
    • Like a university tutorial, for children.
    • With your say-so, the tutor already knows where your child is stuck, so they get help with their own gaps.
  • Online specialist tutors

    • A tutor joins online and talks your child through what they’re stuck on.
    • Not the same tutor every time.
    • Your child gets the specialist for that subject: the person best at explaining it.

Data-driven help

The tutor already knows where they’re stuck.

  • Opblox sees which blocks are hard for your child, and why.
  • Before a session, the tutor gets an up-to-date view of their learning in that subject.
  • The blocks they’re on, where they keep slipping, and the mistake behind it.
  • So no time is lost finding the problem. The session starts on it.

Your consent

Only with your say-so.

  • Nothing about your child goes to a tutor until you say yes.
  • You choose the subject. A maths tutor sees maths, and nothing else.
  • Tutors see the learning, not your family: no surname, no address, no contact details.
  • Change your mind at any time. Access stops straight away.
  • You can see each time a tutor looked.

Our approach to children’s privacy

Safe by design.

  • Checked tutors.Every tutor is checked before they work with children.
  • You book, you’re there. You book every session, and the links come to you, never to your child. We plan for a parent to stay at group sessions.
  • No contact outside sessions.Tutors and children don’t message each other. We plan not to record sessions.

Own pace still rules

Help, not a shortcut.

  • When a block is hard, Opblox tries first: fresh questions, another way in, or a step back to what’s missing.
  • A tutor is there for when that isn’t enough.
  • Paying for a tutor never buys progress. Blocks are still stacked by passing the checks.
